Societal norms are one of the main things which hold us back from being happy. We dress to impress often for those whom we don’t even like. We overspend and run in to debt to buy something nice to fit in with those who don’t really care about us. We damage relationships with our family and friends because we dedicate more time to our bosses and their prosperity over our own.

So why do we do this? We do it because society has conditioned us to be this way. At the end of it all, all our friends & family want is for us to give them some importance; and we should as they will probably be the only constants in our lives.

…and deep down, we all know what really matters. We just need to ask ourselves.

Explore your constants in life and you will find happiness. It’s important to reflect on what is really important to us and then work to hold on to that. Realizing this transformed me from being a ‘Chaser’ to a ‘Receiver’.
