“I’m nervous about seeing a clinical psychologist”

Emotional and mental problems can be a heavy burden to bear alone. Even so, many people are nervous about reaching out to a therapist for help.

The important thing to remember is that the psychologist is always on your side. They will work with you in a supportive, confidential, and non-judgemental way to help you achieve the best outcomes for your life.

The work you do is strictly confidential and will only be shared with the referring GP or medical consultant with your permission from the outset.

Booking a first appointment at our Cambridge Clinic

To make your initial consultation, call  01223 300 222 and ask for a clinical psychologist.

In your first appointment, your psychologist will carry out an assessment with you (or the family in the case of a child) to understand what the issues are. They will then use evidence based practice to formulate a plan to make the changes you want to live a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life. The psychologist works with you at all times to help you move towards your goals and the changes you wish to make to improve your life.

You would generally need 8 to 12 sessions each lasting 1 hour. The work is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure you are getting the most out of the sessions and any homework given between sessions.
